Pirin Mountain Resort

The Mountains

Pirin Mountains

Pirin is one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Bulgaria. Nestled in the valleys of the Struma and Mesta rivers the mountain is the second highest in the country and the third highest on the Balkan peninsula.

The breathtaking beauty of the mountain stems from its high rocky peaks and wild plants, more than 170 crystal clear mountain lakes and deep river valleys.

The mountain is part of the Pirin National Park which is included in the List of the UNESCO Convention for the Preservation of the World Natural and Cultural Heritage. The National park has Bulgarian and Balkan native flora such as Bulgarian Fir, Bosnian Pine and Macedonian Pine. The symbol of the Pirin Mountains is the Edelweiss – a rare flower growing on the highest peaks of the mountain. A lot of rare animal and bird species are preserved in the park as well – Brown Bear, Wolf, Golden Eagle, Wall creeper, Alpine Capercailie and others.
